Summer in black

Hello, I hope everyone is well. I feel like I am slightly behind with all the things I had planned to do on the blog. Alice is back at school now and although I am still feeling a little wobbly with regard to Instagram I wanted to get my ideas down on paper .. well the internet!

If you follow my stories you would have seen that I have been trying have a bit of a clear out of my dressing room and wardrobes that I seem to have taken over around the house. It is not easy for me mainly because I always think that I will love something again or that it may have been an investment purchase so how could I really part with it. I definitely need to be more ruthless (and in other aspects of my life actually!) One thing I have noticed is that the classic more neutral items remain. I have recently been looking through our holiday photos from the past couple of years. Not just on Instagram although I love the fact that I can look at my previous holiday style. I do try to stick to a colour theme but often fail. I really am a spontaneous dresser so always end up taking more than I need. One common theme however is black and white. I love both with tan and turquoise and also the feel of a black or white dress when you have that holiday glow..

My friend Gemma and I in Santorini. Gemma is the master of black. Bikini’s, dresses and resort wear. All normally gorgeous and higher end pieces that she really invests in. I actually rarely see her in colour!

Last summer in my favourite day dress from H&M!

I think black dresses aren’t just the ‘LBD’ for an evening that we all advised that we need in our wardrobe but can be worn casually in so many different ways. I have chosen, hopefully a variation of styles  and dresses I love. I have tried not to look at pattern or print but just stick to black in varying fabrics and quality. Price ranges vary from high street to high end. It certainly isn’t rocket science but I never think that fashion really is. Just wear what suits you and you love..

Firstly Zara

Printed Strappy Dress

Zara Ruffled Waistcoat Dress

The dress that prompted my blog post. I bought this Asos Dress not just for my holiday but I think it can easily be worn here with good old trainers and a biker. It is broderie anglaise which I really love. Fairly fitted but not tight..

Three fab dresses above from H&M

Me and my little mate! This dress was fairly popular last year from New Look. Not the best picture but hopefully you get the idea!

I actually think that the three & Other Stories dresses below are my favourite for Ibiza with our friends later this Summer….

So there you are…. I actually went slightly bonkers (not like me at all!) and found so many more than I have included on here! Hopefully there is something for everyone. It is raining here today and I am still trying to book our family holiday…Roll on August!

Thank you for reading

Love

Jane
