Dress for the occasion!

Hello everyone

I hope you are all well

I was recently invited to preview the new By Invitation Collection at Hobbs London

The collection was inspired by the gardens at Kenwood House and is hand painted floral prints and luxurious silks. To be honest I haven’t shopped in Hobbs for years. When I worked in the city I bought suits and sensible court shoes from there but they had most definitely gone from my radar. As you know I like to make purchases that are versatile. Clothes that can be worn on more than one occasion and dressed up and down. How often do we hear that on Instagram!! I am aware that this collection is at the higher end of the high street but it was very much designed for an occasion in mind where perhaps some of us would invest slightly more than normal. I chose this pink silk wrap dress. It is the most flattering cut and the fabric detail is beautiful. My visit prompted me to put a selection together of dresses that I love for an occasion. Whether that maybe Royal Ascot, a wedding or just because! I love suits, I love jumpsuits and honestly would wear both to a special occasion too. To keep this as brief as possible I have just stuck to dresses. Some which are conveniently now on sale…

This dress looked amazing on. Slightly longer on me than this model but a gorgeous swishy feel and beautiful yellow

Here I have chosen a selection some of which are slightly more higher end. Starting with & Other Stories

It wouldn’t be an occasion without Rixo London

A brand that is becoming more popular with boutiques and is firmly a favourite of mine Stine Goya

The following three dresses are favourites of mine. I love the new collection and if budget allows I would say that they are a go to brand for occasion wear Self Portrait

Needle and Thread London We have a big family wedding in September and I just may have bought a dress from this lovely brand…Not one of the gorgeous dresses below but something that I have had my eye on for a while. I just hope that it works!!

Well, I hope that has given you some inspiration at least. I do feel that lots of designer or higher end brands are duplicated really well on the high street. I also would love to put together an edit of new and emerging brands that I have met on Instagram.  Two firm favourites:

Phoebe Grace

Ethereal London

Both are small beautiful brands run by the most lovely ladies…

Thank you for reading
